Hi friends! Thank you so much for stopping by Iddy and Oscars. I hope you will make plans to visit the boutique if you haven’t done so already. If you have, please come again! My name is Joy Pine. I’m a wife, mother, nurse, entrepreneur and believer. Iddy and Oscars is my boutique, but more than that, it’s my heart.
I started my career as an RN. After working in several fields of medicine, I traveled to Africa to perform medical missions. Though now I physically reside in the United States the majority of the time, part of my heart is in Kenya and rests in the hands of widows and street orphans.
Iddy and Oscar are the names of two orphans that I met in my travels to Kenya. They were taken in by two of my friends, Chris and Sarah Nicholson. Iddy and Oscar are two of the most beautiful examples of how you can change one life at a time. They have huge hearts and always present themselves with the biggest smiles. After meeting Iddy and Oscar, my heart for missions became a passion for change. I wanted to make a change in the lives of street orphans in Africa, but most of all I wanted to make a change in the world.
Then came the birth of Iddy and Oscars. I planned to begin small with a little accessory store that would hopefully give back and change the lives of street orphans that had no way to afford school. The small accessory store outlined in my original business plan has now grown into a full size boutique that carries women’s clothing, gifts and accessories. Our mission at Iddy and Oscars is to give back to those in need. Many of the brands we carry such as Mission Lazarus, BRANDED Collective, and Diff Eyewear go to support charitable causes that meet a variety of needs all over the world. However, with every purchase, we give a percentage of our proceeds to charitable organizations that aid in educating Kenyan orphans.
Within the first year of opening Iddy and Oscars, we were able to support one orphan to begin University. The second year, four more orphans were added. Currently, Iddy and Oscars has sent 12 kids to school across the country of Kenya and one will graduate the university in March 2018.
Here at Iddy and Oscars, one by one, we are making a difference while also empowering women to look, and feel their best. I’ve always known that I wanted to make a difference in the world, but I never knew how to start. Maybe you’re there today too. In my experience, change begins small. It begins with one simple act. However, that one simple act causes a ripple effect and eventually turns into a life altering experience. So, no matter how you chose to do so-through a purchase, a donation, a kind gesture-start today with one simple act. Change starts with you.
